March 2015
The first Caribbean R/C Boat Championship was celebrated in
2014 by NAMBA District 13 which is made up of Puerto Rico
and the Virgin Islands. The championship consisted of four
classes. Open Mono, Open Catamaran, Offshore, and Super
Boats.
The championship was celebrated with a points race at each
island and the winners were determined by the boater with the
highest points accumulated. To win the championship,
participation was required at a minimum of three of the four
events.
The first event was celebrated at a new pond, considered the
best in the Caribbean by the St. Croix R/C Boat Club. The
friendship and camaraderie developed at this event was the start
of a great year. There were a total of 90 boats participating from
all over Caribbean. We want to thank our friend Burton Edney
and all the members of his club for the excellent event
celebrated.
The second event was celebrated at the Caribbean R/C Boat
Club site in Dorado, Puerto Rico. There was an excellent turn
out of 135 boats from the islands including a group from
District 3 who were mostly Orlando, Florida racers.
The weekend was a total success. Great camaraderie and
good food. The competition was excellent. Fast boats and very
skilled drivers.
