trailers and making sure everyone had
access to and from the hot pits. Hats off
to Jim Piazza for a great job parking
everyone’s rigs and trailers. Thanks to
Daryl Peterson who did everything from
barbequing to helping me put the log
boom together, to Vicki Peterson for all
of her work with hospitality, the country
store, and the heat racing ribbons and
points. Alan Terry kept things moving
by CDing many of the classes. Mike
Howard did an awesome job with the
raffle. Jim and Renee Piazza helped put
on the Spaghetti feed by cooking
spaghetti and sauce. Several others also
stepped up to help during the Nationals.
And of course we all need to
appreciate this year’s National’s Contest
Director Dave Bestpitch, who personally
spent countless hours and months of
preparation behind the scenes bringing
this all together. With all the stress to put
on a huge event like this, I was pleased
to see our group work side by side very
well with no fighting or bickering.
Everyone focused on the Nats, the
competitors, and putting on a first class
event.
I am proud to be part of such a great
organization. NAMBA was built on and
still is today "a family orientated group
putting on boating". This is why I am
proud to be a NAMBA member and
District Nine Director.

October 2015
NAMBA Nationals for Nitro and Gas. I
am proud to say that they put on a great
event and that I was able to be part of
their team. Nationals Contest Director
Dave Bestpitch kept me going from
when I got up in the morning until night
time when I finally could rest and get
some sleep. Highlights were having
contestants coming from around the
world and competing with us. We even
had some come just to be part of the
event and not race. This turned out to be
a great event.
Saturday and Sunday prior to the first
race day at the Nationals were windy for
testing from 8:00 am until the sun went
down. The log boom (a secondary boat
catch and wave breaker), which took
many weekends to make, did its job. The
rest of the week Mother Nature gave up
so the log boom was not needed to break
any waves from the wind. She was kind
to us with gentle breezes and tempera-
tures only into the ninety’s with the
exception of the last day. The winds
made it tough on the competitors for
round one but after that, we had great
racing.
The NAMBA Nationals Banquet was
held at a church hall down the road from
the race site with everyone bringing his
or her drinks of choice. The tri-tip pork
and chicken were great. Everyone had a
great time.
The Nationals week was a great
group effort from a lot of different
people starting with the parking of the
NAMBA Nats Thank You
(Continued from page 9)
We want to take this time to thank
Dave and Bev Bestpitch and all their
supporting crew for putting this event
on. We had a great time!
We are planning to attend the 2016
NAMBA Nationals that are going to be
held in Wichita, Kansas so we hope to
see you there at the start line!
District Nine
By James “ Bo” Garidel
District Nine Director
I hope everyone is having a great
season. Here in District Nine we believe
we are. Four of the first five races were
at Fremont’s Kaiser Cove because of
dam repair and possibly losing the lake
for the end of the season. If all goes well
everything should be back in full swing
by next year.
Thanks go to Bob Tuttle who worked
hard with the city and got the Seaside,
California pond back. He will be hosting
a race there in September of this year
and has a scooter show and shine event
to help out at Seaside. There are now
three race sites for our members to
compete at with another one on the
horizon. Truly this will be fantastic!
Another achievement for our district
was bringing on board the Western
Warship Combat Club group, and for
them to be a recognized within our
district. They now have events at Lake
Minden mixed in with our heat racing
championship series. As our motto says;
“District Nine A Great Place To Race”.
What a great job the RC Modeleers
committee did hosting the 2015
