Thanks to the Greater Hartford Model
Boat Club for hosting the first race of the
2015 season.
FLOTSAM AND JETSAM
We did vote at Mansfield regarding
NAMBA Site Insurance. NAMBA
registered clubs will now be reimbursed
by the district for insurance coverage of
one pond per year.
On another note, Watson Coburn
mentioned that he has two gas boats that
can easily be converted to Stock Gas.
This is in hopes of reviving the class
with newcomers from each of the three
District 11 registered clubs. Other
members spoke up about boats they had
that fit the bill, so hopefully we can
move ahead on this. In our area, I plan
on putting out a news release to begin a
search for someone that we can
"sponsor" for a race season. Not sure
what I am going to use for the selection
criteria, but we will come up with
something.
RACE #2 ROLLINSFORD, NH
The Lakes Region Wave Runners is
ready to host race number two at
Rollinsford the end of June! I have
dutifully appeared before the Board of
Selectmen and the American Legion,
provided the use permit from the State of
New Hampshire and the race site is
insured. I will have the plaques for the
2014 Champions on hand. And surprise
of surprises, the Porta Potti has been
ordered! I already know that it is going
to be a good day.
The usual rules apply guys. The 30
second clock will be used, five lap race,
under five seconds continue straight, etc,
etc... The weather is looking good for
this Saturday June 26, so hope to see you
guys there!

August 2015:
Rowdy Rollinsford
What was rowdy about Rollinsford?
Nothing really. I was just checking to
make sure you were reading this! Also, I
have Rowdy Roddy Piper on the brain,
as he just passed away. Check out the
movie "They Live!" and you will know
what I mean. Back on topic now. Just
when I thought attendance could not get
lower, IT DID! Having said that, we had
fewer boats but ran more classes than

WEBSITE
I still have not found someone to help
take over the website from Brian Walls.
I want to talk to the person that has taken
over the Belknap Snowmobilers web
site. It requires a lot more than what we
need, so I am hopeful he can be of
assistance to us. We also discussed more
use of Facebook last year and Brian
Sorgente is working on that.
CHAMPIONSHIPS
Congratulations to all of last years
Champions! They were all well deserved
and I hope everyone had a good time
competing for them. I will start awarding
the plaques at the Rollinsford race in
June. SEE YOU NEXT SATURDAY!

June 2015:
MANSFIELD HOLLOW
The first race of 2015 is now in the
record books. If you reviewed the results
that were sent out, you may have noticed
that we had thirty boats in attendance.
There are two sides to this story in my
book. One, only 24 boats actually made
up legal classes. Six boats made up three
classes of which each class was one boat
short of being legal. You may also have
noticed that they were all gas and none
were nitro. Second side to this story is
if only a few more gas boats had been
there, we would have had eight legal
classes of gas alone. With the regular
nitro guys present, we would have had
40 to 45 boats in attendance which
would have been a high point for the last
two years. I am hopeful this was just one
of those days when a number of racers
could not make it and not an indicator of
future races.
The enthusiasm of those in
attendance was not dampened in the
least and there was great racing all
day. Kudos to Mike Noonan who
brought the only nitro boats but stayed
all day to help out and also enjoy the
races. There was no shortage of pit men
and despite some unavoidable back-to-
back heats, CD John Palica kept the pace
leisurely but steady and all four rounds
of racing went off without a hitch. While
a couple of buoys did get hit, I do not
believe any were cut nor replaced. All in
all, it was good day all the way around.
John Palica will be the Contest Directors
and all the usual rules will apply. Not
that it has been an issue for so long that
I can't remember the last time it came
up, but a sound DB meter will be on
hand just in case.
Open water at 9:00 AM with heat
racing starting at 10:00 AM. Hope to
see you there!
MEMBERSHIP
Since this is the first race of the year,
please present your NAMBA member-
ship card upon registration.
There are a lot of things happening with
the NAMBA web site that will have
membership info available online as
well as other new features.
SITE INSURANCE
As I mentioned last year, there are
new rules regarding when you are
covered by insurance. As well as
the regular rules, the site must have
NAMBA insurance available from
NAMBA for $50.00 Currently, there
are four sites that I know are good for
2015. Number 1 Pond in Sanford and
Mansfield Hollow in Connecticut, Lily
Pond in Gilford and Salmon Falls River
in Rollinsford NH. If you have a pond
you practice on and need to insure it,
forms are available on the NAMBA
website.
This brings up something for the
membership to think about. Since this is
an additional cost to the host clubs at a
time when race entry fees barely cover
operating costs, I would like to see our
district pay for one race site insurance
per registered club to help out the
membership. There are three registered
clubs in the district at this time so we
would be looking at $150.00 this year.
ODD NUMBERED YEAR
This being an odd numbered year and
this being an odd numbered district, we
have to elect a District Director. If
anyone is so inclined, the procedure is
listed in the rulebook. I do not mind
running again, but I have to tell you that
my time has been taken up by commit-
ments to numerous functions and I have
gone back to work temporarily through
the end of June so I am not home a
lot. If you guys can put up with me, I
will stay on. If someone else wants to
step up, that would be okay also.
