NAMBA Rule Proposal Results
By Al Waters
NAMBA Executive Secretary
You may remember in October of 2016 that the membership
voted on two rule proposals.
One proposal was submitted by District 3 that the displace-
ment of gas engines in the GX-Twin class will include two
engines or an engine with two cylinders with a maximum
displacement of 54.00 cubic centimeters, would be increased to
a maximum dissplacement of 64.00 cubic centimeters.
The second proposal was submitted by District 20. It
dealt with the procedures for voting for NAMBA officers.
Members will submit their vote electronically using the
NAMBA Membership Portal, or a comparable electronic voting
system approved by the Board of Directors. All voting would
end by 12midnight PST on October 25th.
Greetings From District 1
Dennis Probst Jr
NAMBA District 1 Director
Hello everyone! I hope all is well in your part of the world.
As we in District 1 approach a new season in the not so distant
north, in northeast the young guns are still as hard as ever to
beat! Take a look at the pictures from the 2016 points season
year end awards banquet from January 2017. I am so thankful
for everyone who showed up to support this year’s award
recipients. It was a lot of fun to see to young brothers Tyler and
Ryan Buck both take home a championship title in their
respective classes. Well done!
Moving forward into the 2017 season, we look to be adding
a new class as well as a few more new drivers. I would like to
welcome them aboard. I think future growth in this hobby is one
of the most challenging aspects that we are faced with. But with
some desire, dedication and determination we will prevail.
So with that said, please everyone, enjoy another safe and
exciting boating season in 2017.
This means that paper ballots, e-mail and faxed ballot voting
will go away. The question has come up about those members
who do not have computers, no Internet, no tablets or cell
phones. Not to worry. I went many years without cell phone
technology and people asked me why. My answer was I never
needed a cell phone. There was always someone within five feet
of me that would loan me theirs. Those members without the
technology can still log in with a password and user name to
edit their profile, process their NAMBA membership and
participate in the voting process. They know who they are and I
have also contacted them.
Both proposals did pass overwhelmingly and the use of the
online voting portal system increased voting participation
dramatically. The positives far out way any negatives.
The following are the results of voting with 1517 members :
