            Race Sanctions

I will admit that race sanction procedures have not turned out as perfect as I wanted

but we are working on it and we will get there.

Here is the procedure in the perfect world. The Contest Director applies for a race

sanction and properly pays for it. An e-mail is then sent to the District Director and the

NAMBA office. If the race sanction is applied for but not paid for, no one knows the

better. When the sanction is paid for and the District Director receives his e-mail to

okay the sanction, after he does so, the NAMBA office then receives that okay and the

race sanction is posted on the NAMBA web site.

If you know that you will eventually sanction an event, the earlier in the year you

do so, the better. It’s all about exposure. If one person sees your sanction on the

NAMBA web site and comes to your event, that sanction can possibly more than pay

for itself. District 19 is a testimonial to that fact. They were contacted by telephone in

February about a race in April. Next thing you know, the local Boy Scout Troop was

there for a full day of Saturday racing.

Later in the year, the same thing happened with 21 Cub Scouts who all secured SEI

insurance so we supplied the boats and the hosting club supplied the trophies. They

were kids but they had parents who were excited to see their kids faces. And they also

had something to share when they went to school on Monday morning.

            Club Registrations

Club registrations are pretty straight forward. Whoever paid for the club registration

in 2016 will see it appear in their Membership Portal for payment in 2017. You can log

in to your profile and click on Manage My Clubs. Your will be able to see your club

and whether it is active (paid for) or not active. You can also view the names of the

officers of that club. If any changes need to be made, feel free to contact the NAMBA

          office to make the changes.

As mentioned earlier, if you have a question or a concern, call the NAMBA office

          at (760) 522-9138.

The 2016 NAMBA Nationals in Wichita, Kansas

Many thanks to District 17 Director Wes Jordan and the Wichita Radio Control

Model Boat Club for hosting the event. They say a picture is worth a thousand words.

          So how about some pictures.

There is no paper form available to fill

out. No District Director or Contest

Director to hand money to. It has to be

          applied for online.

          I can be reached by

          telephone for processing or the

individual must be able to use a cell

phone or tablet to apply and process.

          Races have deadlines giving Contest

Directors plenty of time to verify

insurance. The boater knew to have a

boat and a radio and money to pay for

his race fees so he knew that he needed

          insurance in advance.

If you have a scenario where you feel

that an SEI can not be processed, feel

free to call me at (760) 522-9138.

            Site Insurance

As we all know, our individual

membership insurance is only in effect

when we run on ponds or sites with site

insurance. Only a registered club with

five or more members can apply for site

insurance and then that site insurance is

good for any club and/or NAMBA

          member for sanctioned and

unsanctioned events and test and tune

play days. It is in effect from January 2

of a given year through January 1 of the

          following year.

          The individuals representing clubs

for 2016 will not have to reapply and fill

out the information for site insurance for

2017. That information is already in our

database. When you renew your 2017

NAMBA membership all you will have

to do is renew the site insurance. Just

keep in mind, that you will have to

renew the club registration at the same

time or notify the member who

          processed club registration in 2016.

When in doubt, call tech support (the

NAMBA office) and I will walk you

through it. That would be much easier

than filling out the form, paying for the

site insurance, and then discovering that

someone had already taken care of it.

The best insurance would be to view the

site insured ponds list on the NAMBA

web site. Locate the Resources tab and

download Insured Sites. That list is

updated every day that a site insurance

          is processed.
