PROPWASH
October 2015
23
The moral is be careful when carrying and launching boats. Keep the propeller
away from your body. If you slip, don’t worry about the propeller or the boat. Make
sure the propeller doesn’t hit you. A bent propeller can be replaced. Once a boat is
started and off the stand, WALK to the launch area. Look at the propeller and keep it
away from other boaters. There’s no rush. The worst that could happen is a late start.
After the boat is launched get out of the launch area. Stay clear of other boaters
bringing boats down to launch. Don’t retrieve a boat until it is shut off and watch for
other incoming boats. Full size outboard racers wear Kevlar suits to protect them from
propeller cuts. We don’t want to require similar protection.
Last Minute News

NAMBA Executive Secretary
You may have noticed throughout the
Propwash a logo with the words below it
reading
NAMBA Membership Portal.
You are probably asking yourself “what
is that all about?” Pictures have a way of
sinking in to the brain better than words.
The idea is when you go to the NAMBA
web site, you will see that same logo and
say, “I know that I saw that somewhere”.
You will be interested and click on it.
You will now know the future of where
we are going in the digital age.
All NAMBA members have been
converted over to a new membership
portal that will provide all kinds of tools
to make everyone’s job easier.
You can change your profile, request
a different NAMBA number, process
Single Event Insurance at an event,
process full memberships at an event or
even on test day so that the new member
can use your site and know that they are
insured. There will be no more in the
mail memberships or delays in
processing. No more accepting hand
written membership applications by race
officials on race day during registration.
This can all be done on the spot with the
person being fully insured. It has been
taken out of Contest Directors hands so
that there are no worries.
You can process site insurance, club
registrations, and race sanctions.
NAMBA officer voting as well as
individual district proposal voting if you
would like will also be available. The
possibilities will be endless.
It will take a little effort on your part
the first time around. You have been
given a secure random password. You
will need to go to the portal from the
NAMBA web site and click that you
have forgotten your password (because
you do not know it yet). It will be
e-mailed to you within moments. If not
contact us.
Now you are on your way. Read the
FAQ’s about the portal and see what it
can do for you.
