Last Minute News By Al Waters NAMBA Executive Secretary This issue of the NAMBA Propwash was by far my most difficult one to put together. It was also difficult to stay on top of processing memberships while being sick and I appreciate those members who were understanding which was everyone. However, what I went through pales in comparison to the lives and families you have read about in this newsletter. If not for these pioneers and their commitment to the hobby, we would not be enjoying what we have today. I also appreciate those who contributed articles and the advertisers who continue to stay with the Propwash year after year. Without their help, the NAMBA Propwash would be nothing more than a flyer. We do have to take what the world has delt us, make the best of it and move forward. Thank you very much to the NAMBA membership who sent me e-mails, cards, phone calls and texts. It really made me feel good and kept my spirits on a higher level. We can get through this and enjoy a better year of model boating in the future. Now on to what is in store the next few months. I feel for the Huntsville Model Boat Association when I heard that they had to cancel the 2020 NAMBA Nationals. Members of their club have hosted and attended many IMPBA and NAMBA events so their expertise was second to none. They hung in there as long as possible until the restrictions issued by the city were too difficult to overcome. I was contacted by Kim Grim informing me just how difficult it would be to host the nationals. To those who know me, you would understand. Kim told me that donuts could not be served each day by the host club at the race site. That may have been the straw that broke the camel’s back. Moving on! No one submitted an application from the even numbered districts to run for district director by September 1. So I would like to thank the current district directors for stepping up and volunteering to continue for another two year term. Around the middle of November after I pull audit records, I will hit the 2021 renew button in the Membership Portal. PLEASE be sure that your mailing address is correct. And if you do not receive that secure e-mail, check that you have not changed your e-mail address during the year. Some 2019 members did not renew in 2020 because model boating was cut so short they could not justify renewing. I understand so I did the best I could to hold numbers. We currently are issuing in the 2000’s. However, that will change in 2021. PLEASE renew by the first few months of the year to hold your number. I expect there to be quite a few number request changes next year. On another note. When you do renew, please do not add a membership once logged in to your account. You are there forever. Just renew. You will see an icon to the bottom left that reads Pay Fees. Apply ForA New Membership is for a new member within the family. Manage My Memberships is for changing any personal information like address, phone numbers, e-mail, club affiliation or passwords. That’s all I have. That’s my story and I am sticking to it. Be safe! Aw geez! One last thing. Not to pick on any one district because it was difficult on everyone all the way around. Memberships continued to roll in even during the height of the pandemic. Kudos go to the following districts who matched or increased their membership from the previous year. District 2,3,4, 6, 7, 10 , and 12. Congratulations. 18 October 2020 PROPWASH
