EXECUTIVE SECRETARY Al Waters 162 Avenida Chapala San Marcos, CA 92069 (760) 522-9138 e-mail: namba883@cox.net Web Page: www.namba.com NAMBA INTERNATIONAL PROPWASH VOLUME 48, NUMBER 2 OCTOBER 2018 VICE PRESIDENT Richard Romero 7802 S. Orchid Vine Place Tucson, AZ 85747 (520) 664-2038 e-mail: richard@danspaintandbody.com PRESIDENT Alan Hobbs 2402 Old US Highway 91 Cascade, MT 59421 (406) 468-2706 e-mail: hobbsmt@prodigy.net President’s Message By Alan Hobbs NAMBA President District 7 hosted the 1981 NAMBA Nats in Amarillo, Texas. That was my first NAMBA Nats and is where I first met Joe Monohan, NAMBA #707. Joe came across as a competitive personality and he was there to win races. Over the years I saw him at almost every NAMBA Nats. He entered a lot of classes at every Nats and all of his boats were well prepared. Joe helped me win my first national championship in New Hampshire. One thing about Joe, whatever part he was playing, he played to win. When he did not win a heat race, he was even more determined to win the next. Joe helped promote model boating and NAMBA. He was there to help newcomers and old timers as well. When you look at previous Nats results, you will see Joe’s name in many places. He was elected to the NAMBA Hall of Fame and is a person that deserved to be in the Hall of Fame. He will be missed by many model boaters across North America and from young to old. If there is a Heaven for model boat racers, Joe is there showing them the fast way around the buoys. I will miss my friend Joe Monohan. Membership Numbers: Congratulations are in order for the District Directors. Membership numbers are up in several places as a result of hard work on the part of the District Directors, clubs and individual members. Thank you for your hard work attracting new people into model boating and NAMBA. It is interesting to note that some members that had dropped out are now returning to NAMBA. History shows us that membership losses come in groups while membership growth comes one person at a time. We all must make model boating fun and attract people into our hobby. I thank the individual Districts for the membership growth and encourage them to continue attracting new members. 2018 NAMBA Nats Dallas, Texas is where we will meet for another NAMBA Nats this October. Get your rooms reserved and your entries into the mail. There is a lot of racing planned and there is a lot to do when you are not racing. This should be a great location for family members who want to shop, sight see, or attend theme parks and sports venues. As a central location, Dallas will attract racers from the West, Mid-West and Southern states. You will have the opportunity to meet many new faces and race against some people for the first time. I have been approached by some people who normally race in Europe, so you might get to see new engines, new designs, and new ways to do things. INSIDE THIS ISSUE NAMBA Number Requests ………….
