President’s Message
By Robert Holland
NAMBA President
I want to start by introducing Karl Loveless who is now the District 20 Director.
Some of you may remember Karl from the 2013 NAMBA Nationals held in Salt Lake
City, Utah. He was one of the Contest Directors and was really the one who
spearheaded the efforts to have a National event in Utah. Karl brings a lot excitement
and new ideas to District 20 and is well respected by the boaters.
District 19 went through a District Director change as Rob Martinez stepped down
from his position as District Director to take care of outstanding health issues. Rob’s
passion was second to none when it came to his district. He worked tirelessly to
improve relationships between the local authorities and the general public to keep
Sunset Park in Las Vegas, Nevada a viable R/C boat racing site. We thank him for all
of his efforts. Fortunately, we have Richard Romero from Tucson, Arizona who has
stepped in to take over the District 19 Director duties. Richard brings a lot boating and
management experience to this position. Richard is widely known as an intense
competitor, a great race announcer on the microphone, and is an all around nice guy.
Later this year will be nominations and elections for NAMBA President, NAMBA
Vice President and District Directors for the odd numbered districts. This will be your
opportunity to contribute to NAMBA and help make any changes that you feel will
improve your district and NAMBA. Going by the number of posts I see on the forums
asking for change, we should see a record number of nominations and voter turn out.
Check your NAMBA rulebook for deadlines on submitting nominations.
The 2015 Nitro and Gas Nationals will be held at Lake Minden in Nicolaus,
California near Sacramento. This will be the first NAMBA Nationals that will have six
days of racing rather than the customary eight days. We are hoping that a shorter event
may draw racers that could not normally take off the additional time required to attend
the longer event. You can travel, test, race and travel home in one week. Many fun and
exciting events are taking place at this year’s event. You can find all the information
you need at
The 2015 FE NAMBA Nationals will be taking place at Sanborn Lake in beautiful
Greeley, Colorado, home of the 2010 FE NAMBA Nationals. This year they will host
a Welcome Party, lakeside barbeque and an awards banquet. I will race at this year’s
event and see what this FE stuff is all about. The Contest Directors are Joe Scarpino
and Chris Bopp. They are working hard to make this an exciting and fun event.
