President’s Message
By Robert Holland
NAMBA President
As the 2014 season starts to wind down, I am saddened to think this great boating
season will soon be over for many of us. Snow starts to fly in a month or two and the
temps get too cold for others. Jealousy towards my fellow boaters in the Sunbelt states
sets in.
The elections for the even numbered districts are currently taking place. NAMBA
District 20 will have two candidates to choose from. Chris Bopp and Karl Loveless
have decided that they would like to make a difference in NAMBA. They both have a
vision for promoting model boating and keeping the core group active and strong in
District 20. I applaud them both for stepping up and wish them good luck in the
elections. Voting ballots have already been mailed individually to each household
saving NAMBA hundreds of dollars in print and mailing costs. The remaining even
numbered districts have had strong leadership with their current district directors and
hopefully they will continue on in their leadership roles.
Unfortunately, NAMBA has recently suspended members and denied membership
renewals because of safety and unsportsmanlike conduct. We are making these issues a
priority and expect each NAMBA member to follow the safety rules and act in a
professional manner whenever at a race, a test session or just hanging out at the pond.
Please beware of safety issues around you and treat others with respect.
I want to acknowledge and give my deepest thanks to Kelly Groul and the rest of
NAMBA District 8. They hosted a very successful NAMBA Nationals this past July
on short notice when another district had to step down. Great job District 8!!!
Have you noticed how fast the web page gets updated, or how fast you receive your
membership cards? How about the fantastic job being done on our new updated
Facebook page, or the accuracy and timely updates of your rulebook. This is because
of the people behind the scenes working hard for you. It would have happened sooner
if I wasn’t there to slow it all down. Next time you see your district director, class
chairman, Al Waters, Dave Santistevan, Tracy Osborne, Kim Grim and others, be sure
to thank them for the job well done.
You will see the 2015 NAMBA Nitro and Gas Nationals in District 9 at Lake
Minden and the NAMBA FE Nationals in District 20 at Sanborn Park in Greeley,
Colorado. Look for updates and info in this issue of the Propwash.
Last but not least…. Why did the skeleton not cross the road?
Because he had no guts.
