2012 Nats Update
By District 11
District 11 is pleased to announce that we have been selected to host the 2012
Nationals. The event will start on July 14th and will conclude on July 21st in
Rollinsford, NH, site of the 2005 Nats. When we hosted our first event in 2005, you
can imagine there was a certain amount of nervousness and concern about providing a
quality racing experience and ensuring that everyone had a good time. We needn't
have worried. The racers themselves provided all that was good about being there and
we reaped the rewards.
We are currently working on a host hotel and arranging the many aspects associated
with the Nats. As information becomes available, it will be posted on our website at
namba11.com. The members of District 11 look forward to renewing old
acquaintances and making new ones next year and maybe, just maybe, we'll succeed in
seeing that Russ Stark eats lobster every day, beginning to end!
Electric Notes
By David Newland
NAMBA FE Chairman
I am pleased to announce that the recent FE proposal, which primarily dealt with
the formalization of P-Ltd (aka spec) power parameter, was successful. Thank you to
those that voted in support of this proposal. It was a long road, but a necessary one to
make sure we got it right. Before the proposal, it was the most popular “unofficial”
power parameter running in FE. The fact that there were very, very few votes against
it shows that our homework paid off.
For NAMBA’s 40
th
Anniversary, I was excited about the opportunity to have two
exhibition FE classes make the National schedule. We ran P-Ltd Sport Hydro and
P-Mono, which are two of the most popular FE classes. Thank you, NAMBA, for
including FE at this historic event, and congratulations to Roger Payne for taking
print and even e-mail to a friend. And
you can do this all in color and or black
and white the way they came off the
presses. In fact, in some cases they are
even better than the originals. In older
race programs the thickness of paper
would dictate the amount of bleeding of
ink to the backside page. We have spent
the time to clean that up. Some pages
can be done in an hour or so. Some have
taken days to look right. But it is our
history and we feel it is well worth the
effort.
Now that we are towards the end of
the year, it is also that time where we
vote for NAMBA President, NAMBA
Vice-President, and District Directors
for all odd numbered districts.
Applications will have already been sent
to Cathie Galbraith, our NAMBA
Executive Secretary as of this writing.
Look in your mail for the voting ballot.
You may vote for one of the candidates
running for President and for Vice-
President but vote only for a District
Director nominee in the district you
reside in. Please do not vote for
someone outside your district or your
ballot may become null and void. This
election will be handled the same way
as the Presidential election was two
years a go where the ballots can be
mailed in, faxed in, or emailed in. The
results will be handled by a third party
firm and the results will not be made
available to the Executive Secretary
until one week after the deadline voting
date. This is your chance to be heard.
Take the time and vote. It is your right
as a NAMBA member.
Until next time, have a safe model
boating rest of the year.
The 2012 NAMBA Nationals for Nitro and Gas will be hosted at the same great
location as the 2005 NAMBA Nationals
