PROPWASH 18 October 2022 Second leg complete – front end Do this one more time with the red wire to get three more sets of coils. Three legs complete – input end Trial wind assembled in AquaCraft housing You now can test your wind before you do the rewind with the actual wire bundles. The coils formed will not carry any real current but have the same characteristics as the final wind. I test- ed the KV of the 2 coil Delta wind as described in the last Prop- wash. I got a on a 2030 Aqua Craft motor of 1978; about the same.KV1980. That compares to a KV Next take out one of the test wires and measure it. I got 24”. Add around 8” to 10” to this to make a “needle” to thread the wire through the stator slots. I decided on 36” to be sure of enough. ’m trying to duplicate the original 2030 Aquacraft wind with more copper for my first rewind. The original motor had around 30 strands of #31 wire in the coil bundle. I chose 20 strands of #27 wire. First setup two screws 36” apart and wind the 20-strand bun- dle. Sand around 6” on one end to remove the insulating coating. CA doesn’t stick well to the coating. Then wrap that end tightly and apply CA to create the needle. Remove the wrap, sharpen the needle, sand it smooth, and apply a little more CA. Wire bundle winding setup Three legs complete – front end
