News From 19 (Continued from Page 2) Both of our 2022 first time winners are second generation model boaters. Watching these young people share this moment with their fathers made it memorable for those in attendance. PROPWASH April 2022 29 Peyton makes a return to model boat racing scoring 1500 points in GX-2 Outrigger for the win With our third race coming up in April, we hope to put on a great race for those that attend, and we most importantly have an amazing time doing it. Not only do we have a full schedule of district racing in 2022, but also some great club races available to local district members. The SD Gassers hold bi-monthly races at Mission Bay in San Diego and the Tucson Model Boat Club holds monthly club races at Archer Lake in Tucson. We are proud to say we now have club racing in Southern California! Rey Garcia and The RC Sharks Racing Team have created a 10-race schedule for 2022 to be held at Legg Lake in South El Monte. The series is called W.O.R “Wide Open Racing. They hold five races where only stock engines may participate and five modified races. Rey records club records for each class and the host club provides lunch. They run all four rounds and will crown the champions of each class at the end of the series. The cost to compete is $5.00 per boat and each race is a one-day event. Great Job RC Sharks! For more information about the W.O.R series visit The RC Sharks Racing Team page on Facebook. In Memory Of ….. Roy Edenfield was a long time nitro NAMBA boater from the 80’s in to the early 2000’s known for being another one of the Oberto RC racing bunch. His priority was raising his wife Rita’s three grandkids and taking them to all of the District19 “Kid’s”, Rookie races, and many NAMBA Nationals. When the kids got older and moved on to other interests, he left model boating and continued raising them with Rita. I am still here today in model boating because he was there for me all of those years. We all need a mentor. He was mine.
