Here are a few pictures of this past year’s NAMBA Nationals. On the far right we have Karl Loveless, Alan Terry in the middle, myself in the back and Kiyan Loveless on the far left. It is these times we all have to reflect and cherish for the times we all are together. And you all know I have a love for tunnel boats so here is a shot from the 2021 Nationals at Legg Lake. These past few years of dealing with Covid have been very tough on the RC boat racing here in the District 20 area. We have had several members effected by the Covid virus but we all will prevail. All of you by now know we have District 20 member Karl Loveless as our new NAMBA Vice President. Karl will do an excellent job and with his vast knowledge of working with people, he and the leadership will make great strides in taking NAMBA into the future. Congratulations on your position and couldn’t think of anyone better to assist Richard with the direction of NAMBA. In January 2022 I appointed Tony Chlopitsky as Assistant District Director. Tony has many years of model boat racing experience. Tony resides in the Salt Lake City area. Tony can bring the Utah members guidance as well as rally everyone to participate in the events and have fun. In late 2021 I was asked to step up and take the rains from Chris Bopp as District Director since he and his wife Holly were in the process of buying a Hobby Town shop. We all will support Chris in taking the leap of buying a business. I myself know exactly what he is stepping into. He and Holly will succeed and by having the extra stress taken off his shoulders can help him make better business decisions. Chris and Holly congratulations to you both. You will do great things with the hobby shop. I was asked to tell you all about myself so here goes. Back in 1990 just after I got married to my wife Amy. We just happened to be heading to my dad’s house up river and noticed an RC Model Boat Races sign at a freeway exit in Springfield, Oregon. I took the turn and went down and watch and talked to a few guys and met Dale Remiro. That was the start of my love of the model boating hobby. Since then, I have had just about every model of boat there is, but I got back to the first boat I ever built and that was a TriStar B Stock Tunnel. Sure wish I still had that one. Over the years I have been involved with several national events and attended many more over the years. What I can say I enjoy about every event I have been to, are the friends you see and get to run with. My goal for District 20 is to bring the members together and get back to racing and having fun and growing the membership. We are going to start the “Arrive and Drive” program here in the district. I feel that if you can put a transmitter into a child’s hand, they will get hooked just like I did back in 1990. A special thanks to my friends Dale Remiro and Lohring Miller for taking the time to explain the hobby to me.
