PROPWASH 6 October 2021 History of NAMBA District 13 By Rey Medina NAMBA District 13 Director District 13 was created at the time in 2006 with a small group of members. In 2007, we started a closer relationship with members of the U.S.V.I and increased our membership to double of 2006. At the present, we have six times our initial membership. The district clubs in Puerto Rico have races from February through November running their individual championships. The District 13 then created the Caribbean Championships in 2014. The championships consist of three races celebrated in Puerto Rico, St. Croix U.S.V.I. and St. John U.S.V.I. every year to select the district champions. The championships have been a total success and has been celebrated for the last six years. District 13 has grown through the years having a great relationship with the municipal government participating in several events for kids and young school students. We celebrate an annual event in which all the generated income is given to different organizations to help the homeless children. We have a large group of members that normally attend several NAMBA events in the continental USA, mostly in District 3. The Covid 19 made us reorganize our activities after a year of no events. Our district started racing again in March of this year with a strict Covid protocol that has been followed by all of our clubs. We currently are celebrating a monthly race for gas and electric with an average participation of 100 boats. The number of new purchased boats and new hobby members will guarantee an excellent 2022 for the district. Time has come after 16 years of been the District 13 Director to pass the torch to a younger generation. I want to thank all District 13 members for their help in promoting the hobby and increasing our membership. I especially want to thank my Assistant Director Luis Ayala, Dr. Giovanni Gonzalez, Burton Edney and Al Waters for all the help through the years. 2022 will be another great year for District 13. I will continue seeing all of you at the races. Arecibo Mini Offshore Club President Edgardo Molina with District Director Rey Molina
