When I try to move my Gas Thunderboat, I feel I need those parking sensors in my car to beep when I get too close to a wall or door! Whether you take a winter off or a few seasons; remember to prep your boats for storage in order to save money in the long run. No matter what, it’s great to get back into racing again and not chasing points – just racing to have some fun. Secretary News By Al Waters NAMBA Secretary I saved my news for the membership until the very end of the Propwash as while I put it all together for you, things are happening on a weekly basis with NAMBA and no telling what may occur between the printing of this publication and when you receive it. Lets start with the easy stuff: Spring Proposals: The membership voted on a FE 1/8 Scale Unlimited Hydroplane power proposal. 371 votes were cast with 329 voting yes and 42 voting no. With the current use of the NAMBA Membership Voting Portal and weekly e-mail reminders if you had not voted, the participation level of voting has dramatically increased over the years. If you want the rule book print outs, they are available ASAP from the NAMBA web site. Or you can wait until next year and they will be mailed to you with your next Propwash. This just in. For those who need some up front financial loan assistance in hosting a NAMBA Nationals, the amount of the loan has been increased from $2000.00 to $3000.00 at the request of the NAMBA Board of Directors. NAMBA Propwash Advertisers I really need to thank the advertisers who support the NAMBA Propwash newsletter. They have been with us for many years. We must be doing something right as we just picked up another advertiser. They being Steve Lopez of Insane Boats. So thank you again Chris Hoffman of Dasboata Propellers, Stu Barr of CMB Engines, Alan Hobbs of A/A Engines, Bob Zola of Mojo Racing Products, David Santistevan of Concentrics, Inc. and Steve Lopez of Insane Boats. You keep the NAMBA newsletter going and provide many valuable services in the model boating world. Keep reading to the column on your right. I am just getting warmed up. Then there are those provide the material for some good reading. No one does it like Lohring Miller who is our NAMBA Safety Chairman. Issue after issue he provides tech insights that are off the charts. Whether it be nitro, gas or FE, his insights are tested to the fullest extent. His research is tried and true. Then we get to his safety articles. A NAMBA Propwash does not get published unless there is a safety article written by Lohring. Everything from saving model boating equipment to saving a life. That just made me think of something while typing. Why not NAMBA have a safety newsletter attachment of “Lohring’s Best of Safety Articles”, which would be every safety article he has ever written. The wheels are turning. There are many others who come through quite often but I had to throw “props” Lohring Miller’s way this time around. What is in store in the next Propwash? Along with the main stream of articles that you will see, expect a historical edition of the Propwash as it will center around the NAMBA 50th Nationals where it all began at Legg Lake in Southern California. Lots of racing, memories, bench racing, the Welcome Party, Paddleboat Party, Presidents Dinner, and Awards Banquet. If you can’t be there, maybe we can help you out with the NAMBA Propwash. We are looking forward to it. 2021 NAMBA Elections As you can see reading on, there are NAMBA elections in progress. NAMBA President, Vice President, and odd numbered District Directors. Some are a vote of confidence and some have multiple nominees. You will be notified through the secure voting portal. Voting will commence October 1 (or sooner) and run through October 25. If you are not notified contact the NAMBA office. All members can vote for the President and Vice President. Only district members can vote for their own District Director. PLEASE VOTE! IMPORTANT...IMPORTANT ...IMPORTANT I hope that you read the President’s Message about lawsuits and the position an insurance company takes when there are excessive attempts at claims and lawsuits. As a result, 2022 NAMBA membership renewals and site insurance renewals will not be accepted until the first week of December or at such time we are guaranteed coverage by our current insurance carrier. You will be notified by e-mail through the NAMBA Membership Portal
