PROPWASH October 2021 11 Bottom view of M30 in 1/10th scale sprint boat The 1/10th scale sprint boat was laid up in 3D printed molds. I used the 3D printed molds available for free on CG Trader with a modification of the deck mold for a shoe box joint. See the article “One Off Epoxy Glass Parts” in this issue for details on the mold preparation and layup. I mounted the water jet in the finished hull according to the instructions in the M30 manual. The complete installation is very neat and compact. 1/10 scale sprint boat M30 water jet Motor & servo mount Links to Štěpán’s videos and design are: Štěpán’s YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/ UC8nS_p8mYhk9aJXu2aPSqgw M30 jet pump https://www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/ hobby-diy/other/m-jet-3d-printable-jet-drive-for-rc-boats Sprint boat hull mold https://www.cgtrader.com/free-3d-print- models/hobby-diy/other/jetsprint-hull-for-rc-boats Full 3D printed 1/10 scale sprint boat https:// www.cgtrader.com/3d-print-models/hobby-diy/other/m-jet- sprint-3d-printable-rc-jetsprint-boat-model News @ 9 Missing Friends But Back to Racing By Chris Wittrig NAMBA District 9 Director 2020 was a year of loss for many including our members of District 9 as reported in the March Propwash. Unfortunately, we’ve lost more members of our family, they themselves are family. In April Jay Osman, one of three Osman brothers racing in District 9 that includes Tod and Eric, passed away. Then in August the patriarch of the Osman family and Hydromaniacs club Don Osman passed away. The entire District 9 family is saddened by the loss of these two family members and long- standing members among our group. We send out condolences to the entire Osman family and hope to see them at an event in the future. Rest in Peace Don (NAMBA #9) and Jay (NAMBA #1929). After having to cancel our first event of the season because California had not yet broken out of the pandemic restrictions, RC Modeleers hosted the first event of the season at Lake Minden the weekend of March 27-28. Attendance was limited as you’d expect, but it was awesome to see boats on the water after a year off. As additional events were hosted by Faultline Race Team, Seismic Racing, CoCr Racing USA, and Model Mariners the number of participants clawed its way back to the 40’s and boat count over 100 which represented normal attendance for championship points race in prior years. It was great to see friends from District 19 come to support these events and shake down their boats ahead of the 2021 NAMBA Nationals that celebrates the 50th Anniversary of NAMBA’s formation.
