2019 NAMBA Elections for the term 2020-2021 NAMBA President: Alan Hobbs It has been my pleasure to serve as NAMBA President these past 2 years. Together we have made some important gains for the organization. After some previous losses in membership, we were able to turn it around in 2018 and started attracting additional members. Now, in 2019, membership continues to grow, slowly, but still very positive gains. Financially we are stronger than ever. Many Districts are using their promotional funding and as a result, they are growing with new members. We have updated and improved our insurance coverage to protect the members and the officers. The NAMBA Nats are scheduled for the next 3 years, in 3 different Districts. Personally, I am very happy with the results of these past 2 years. I have decided to run for another term as NAMBA President as there is still quite a bit we can accomplish. I want to continue attracting new members and improve our promotional activities. This is not only possible, but necessary to keep NAMBA strong and moving forward. NAMBA Vice President and NAMBA District 19 Director Richard Romero Hello, my name is Richard Romero and I am running for the position of NAMBA Vice President and District 19 Director for the 2020-2021 term. I have been a member of NAMBA since 1997 and currently NAMBA’s Vice President as well as District 19 Director. During my five years as a District Director and the past term as your NAMBA Vice President I have had the great pleasure to work with our amazing members, clubs and vendors. As a collective group, District 19 has been able to increase our membership numbers year after year and for the second year in a row we have over 300 district members. We have rebranding our logo, utilized social media to attract members and created our own line of branded clothing so that our members can represent our hobby wherever they may travel. This type of forward thinking has proven to be a major factor in our growth and financial stability. We have written new rules and rewrote many others with some staying at the district level and many adopted by NAMBA. If re-elected I will continue to work with our Members, Chairpersons and District Directors to continue to move our organization forward providing a positive and safe environment for all members to enjoy. Thank you for your consideration. Mark Grim District 5 Director Hello, my name is Mark Grim, I am running for the position of NAMBA District 5 Director for the term years 2020 thru 2021. I Moved from California District 19 to Alabama District 5 in 2016. I have been a NAMBA member consistently since 1982 In my 37 years as a NAMBA member I’ve also served as Assistant District 19 Director in 2000 and 2001 under Doug DeWitte, NAMBA Record Chairman from 2004 through present, District 19 Director for 2006 and 2007, NAMBA Vice President from 2008 through 2011 and also 2016 and 2017. Contest Director for the Amigos Race Team over many years, guest Contest Director for numerous clubs, and I participated on the Nationals Committee several times. We have 3 clubs in District 5, with several great race sites and I am going to promote more District races, and would like to promote new growth in District 5 membership. As District Director I will keep the membership updated on currant NAMBA news and information. David Wale NAMBA District 7 Director No bio submitted Chris Wittrig NAMBA District 9 Director My name is Chris Wittrig and I am running for reelection as NAMBA District 9 Director for the 2020 and 2021 racing seasons. As I wrap up my 20th year as a NAMBA member with the past two as District 9 Director and the prior year as Assistant Director, I feel genuinely blessed to have met and been surrounded by an amazing group comrades and friends enjoying a hobby that I never imagined would mean so much to me. Being a part of this community and having the chance to give back in so many capacities has seemed effortless because of the laughter, smiles, and satisfaction that comes from other like-minded people simply having a good time enjoying each other and good competition. That has only become better in the past two years. In my first term we sought to find new ways to grow NAMBA and, specifically, District 9 membership. As a team we did just that with our Arrive & Drive program using equally prepared P LTD Mono boats that also serve to support the Kids R Boaters Too program. We re-invented our image and put that image out for the world to see on our website, Facebook, and Instagram presence. We also made our information available in small glossy flyer format so we could direct spectators and visitors to hobby stores toward our events and, hopefully, membership. Our goal as well was to ensure our District operates on a strong fiscal and governance foundation that not only functions to meet the needs of our members during the racing season, but also keeps an eye on future needs and reinvestment. That’s become a reality. Behind it all has been an amazing team of District Members, Chairpersons, and Officers; NAMBA Office and Board of Directors; and product partners that have made these visions a reality. There’s more to do…there always will be and we can always do things better. It would be my privilege to continue representing the members of District 9 and keep the momentum going as well as continue advancing NAMBA overall. No matter how you choose to vote, please be sure to vote for a person to represent your District and also be sure to vote for your next NAMBA President and Vice President for the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Thank you for your consideration. PROPWASH 23 October 2019
