Remember, in these circumstances you are not covered by NAMBA insurance. If something happens, you are on your own. I know of times when a model boat actually went through the side of an aluminum boat and a time when a model boat actually sunk a yacht. In the case of the yacht, the yacht owner went after NAMBA’s insurance carrier. When the owner was informed that NAMBA insurance was not in place because the model boater was running in a marina filled with full sized boats, the owner took our insurance carrier to court. Do not run your model boats when people are in the water. Do not run your model boats when full sized boats are near. You may be having fun. But, if there is an accident, you jeopardize the NAMBA insurance policy. Lawyers will look for anyone to sue; the model boater involved and the model boating organization insurance policy. This all comes down to using common sense and being safe with your boats. Otherwise you jeopardize all of us. NAMBA 2 Lap and Straightline Time Trials - April 2019 By Mark Grim NAMBA Records Chairman In April of 2019 the Huntsville Model Boaters had a great turn out for the NAMBA Two Lap and Straight-line Two Day Time Trial event. We had about six hours on the first day and two hours on the second day of good weather. And unfortunately, the rest of the time we were blown out! With all that said, we still set a lot of NAMBA records. Our next Time Trials will be October 11th -12th and December 1st - 2nd. Come and join in on the fun. We hope to see you there!
