Jerry Wright was in charge of and got some really good people to CD each days events. They were Wendell Barrow, David Wale, Jerry Wright, Russell Stark, Allen Terry, Nick Hartdegen, Mark Grim, Richard Romero and Lenny Blake. John Borden and his crew took care of the scoring for the week. The ladies Jeri, Amanda, Rita and others. The hotel and banquet facilities was procured by Ronnie King. Alan Hobbs helped with the few small disputes we had and kept things from getting out of hand. I know that there are many more that worked tirelessly making this happen that I have not mentioned. I want to extend a “Thank You” to all that made this the great event it was. In Memory of … Marie Thibodeau, wife of Butch Thibodeau from District 11 passed away in early October of 2018. Marie was not just the wife of a model boater. She was a NAMBA member for 23 years in District 11 which is located in the New England states. A member of the Wake Makers RC Boat Club, Marie was always involved in the club and race activities. Where Marie will be most well known in the model boating circles was her work accomplished volunteering at the NAMBA Nationals hosted by District 11 in the years 2005 and 2012. She was there every day and all day taking in registrations, checking NAMBA membership cards, scoring, selling raffle tickets and nationals memorabilia. Marie Thibodeau will be missed and remembered for being the darling of the model boating world in the New England states and Wake Makers RC Boat Club. A big “Thank You” to all in our district that make things happen. This is an award that goes to the person who has the most wins in any one class. You receive 1 point for winning any heat that has three or more boats running at the conclusion of the heat. A new award for the this year was the District Director’s Sportsman award. This award is given to the individual who gives back to the district and best represents the district in attitude and sportsmanship. We have several people who are deserving of this award, but the person I chose truly stood out. He was always one of the first to step up and offer to help. He always had a smile and great attitude. I don’t think I have ever heard him complain or say a cross word about anybody. He is truly a gentleman and great sportsman. A heart felt thanks and congratulations went to Tommy Wagner. The Dallas RC Thunderboats hosted and brought to District 7 the 2018 NAMBA Lone Star Nationals. And what a great one it was. I was told by many and heard all week long about how great a nationals it was. The comments I heard were it was in the top 10% of the nationals that they had attended and some evening ranking it as the best. An outstanding job was done by the Dallas RC Thunderboats lead by President and Contest Director Oscar Love, and Assistant Director John Borden. Others also stepped up to make it the great event it was. Tim Martin, assisted by Jay Stone pulled together a great list of sponsors and raffle items. Terry Willis took care of the trophies and awards. Callie Sodden and Tim Folts were responsible for our graphics and signs. Max Hill’s wife came up with some great memorabilia items.
