In 2006 Tracy took over, fixed, repaired and has maintained the NAMBA Nationals Class Champions records making her the “go to person” for every Nats Contest Director’s race program. If you look online at the NAMBA Nats race program for the 40 th Nationals in 2011 at Legg Lake, California, you can see an example of her work. The history you will read that she put together is second to none. She followed that up with the 2017 NAMBA Nationals located in Las Vegas, Nevada with handling the race program, race entries, heat sheets and other management duties for District 19. Contest Directors Richard Romero and Russ Stark could not say enough about how she was the backbone of the operation. Tracy is also currently in charge of our NAMBA rule book. All rule proposals submitted by the NAMBA BOD by way of the membership go through her to check for proper grammar, proper rule book layout, and verifying that there are no other conflicts with rules in the rule book. Each year she provides for the membership the updates to their rule books and a cover sheet so that each member knows when rules changed or passed and if they are missing an update. Every time NAMBA passes a rule, she provides the NAMBA BOD with three rule books. One is for the printing company which is mailed to new members. The second is the online version which you see on the NAMBA web site designed for computer desk tops, cell phones and tablets. And the third version is provided to the NAMBA BOD showing when a rule passed, what it replaced, and any referencing to the rest of the rule book. When NAMBA members are inducted in to the NAMBA Hall of Fame, their credentials can be for many different reasons. It could be because they were a NAMBA pioneer, manufacturer or distributer, set many NAMBA records, or held many district and NAMBA office positions. Tracy Osborne has been none of the above. However her contributions to NAMBA, as behind the scenes as they are, have been so important over the past 13 years, without her NAMBA would be in some sort of disarray. She is a valuable asset and continues to fulfill those expectations. Congratulations Tracy Osborne on being the 2018 NAMBA Hall of Fame inductee. News From NAMBA District 7 By Jerry Wright NAMBA District 7 Director 2018 has wound down and the racing season is over. For District 7 it was a very good year. We averaged over 100 boats at our races and for the most part the weather cooperated. All the races ran off well with each of the hosting clubs doing an outstanding job. It is really good to see the people in our district step up and do whatever it takes to make sure that we have well run races and that everyone has a good time. Yes we had some issues, but they were dealt with in an efficient manner with very little to no drama. (Continued on Page 6) 2018 NAMBA Hall of Fame Inductee By Al Waters NAMBA Executive Secretary Tracy Osborne began her model boating career in 1982 as a member of the San Diego Argonauts in California. She was most known for racing B Mono and B Hydro. Tracy eventually married her model boating sweetheart Jim Osborne and relocated to Arizona. During those years Tracy was always involved in assisting at the races through accepting race entries, scoring, and trophy awards. When I was NAMBA President, I felt due to Tracy’s endless amount of help in NAMBA, that it would be appropriate to give her a recognized position as NAMBA Rule Book Class Chairman. During Robert Holland’s term as NAMBA President, it was determined (and rightfully so) that Tracy should be removed from the NAMBA Contact List but keep her on board doing the work she was doing for NAMBA. It was a good call because members were calling her for rule interpret- tations rather than contacting their own District Director. Tracy has never been a District Director, NAMBA President or Vice President. That is not her style. However, what she has done for NAMBA over the years, and continues to do so keeps NAMBA organized and in good standing with the membership. She is low profile and accomplishes behind the scenes work.
