When can I renew? Renewals for the following year have traditionally began on November 1. Some members try and renew as early as mid October. This can cause problems because the system still sees you as currently being active. As a result, we shut down the renewals the last couple of weeks of October. However, I do talk to new members on a case by case basis to see if they can wait a couple of weeks for a NAMBA membership as it will cover them the last two months of that year plus the following year. Anything to save a new member some money and still have insurance coverage. When it comes down to it, the easiest way to renew is click on the secure e-mail link you receive from the membership portal in November. If you think you did not receive it, check your Junk Mail. This link takes you to your Dashboard where all you have to do is click on Pay Fees then pay by PayPal or “Other Forms of Payment”. If you select “Credit Card” over the phone rather than “Mail a Check”, you will be talking to me rather than an outside service. For those of you do not have internet, a computer, a tablet, or cell phone, I mail you a membership form. No one gets missed. You may have also read in this issue of the Propwash , the lottery that will go on in June for those coveted low numbers. I do the best I can for holding everyone’s number from the previous year. However, I do get some requests from members for numbers that they may have had in their RC car racing days, big boat racing days, or date they retired from the work place. Voting! Ther e ar e some rule pr oposals to vote on in this issue. You will also receive a secure e-mail to vote. Secure e-mail is the easiest and most reliable. Please take the time to learn about the proposals and vote accordingly. Thank you very much. Have a safe year of model boating. Secretary Updates By Al Waters NAMBA Executive Secretary You may have noticed a few changes and additions this year. Thanks to President Alan Hobbs ideas and the implementation of Vice President Richard Romero, you received a NAMBA vinyl sticker with your 2019 NAMBA membership card on a Welcome Letter . The Welcome Letter is a reminder of the information on the back of your membership card as well as other important information such as where you can run your boats and be insured by NAMBA. If you would like more NAMBA stickers, contact your District Director for availability as he has access for additional stickers through the NAMBA office. You may have also noticed periodically receiving messages from NAMBA. We began with a Happy Holidays the latter part of last year. And followed that up with a birthday wish to members. If you received your birthday wish at a time other than your birthday, that would be because you have an incorrect date of birth in your membership profile. Feel free to log in to your Membership Portal and change the date or you can notify the NAMBA office to make the change for you. Memberships! I r ealize that it is too late at this time and that you may forget come November of this year, however I will continue to point out the pit falls that members get themselves caught up in. When you renew for the following year, do not create an account. You are there for life. If forgotten, you can request your password on the portal page as long as you have not changed your e-mail address. PROPWASH 20 April 2019
