Eva Wale did ALL of the heat racing ribbons. I can’t thank her enough! Brandon Borden helped most of the week with handing out the ribbons. Tim Folts and Thomas Williams provided the starting tables, prop guards and most of the banners. A big thanks to the two of them. The daily CD’s were excellent and provided a good mix of CD skills and humor. Wendell Barrow, David Wale, Jerry Wright, John Borden, Jesse Lee, Russ Stark, Nick Hartdegen, Mark and Kim Grim, and Richard Romero. Bob Finn and Art Rogers handled the motor teching. A special thanks to Roger Pane, Alan Terry and Mark Grim for assisting especially with the stock motor tear-downs. Tim Martin was responsible for the raffle prizes. We had more than enough to raffle off the whole week. Alan Terry donated a motor and gave us a break on a pipe. Steve Lopez donated a motor mount for the retrieve boat operator raffle. Again, I just can’t say thanks enough to these guys. Jim Nissen of JRCBD and Ronnie Byrd from RaCEMastersEvents.com. Thanks for supplying the forum and entry tracking mediums. Being able to see who and how many boats were entered was great. It made putting all the data in order easy. Tracy Osborne provided a majority of the data necessary for the Nationals race program. Terry Willis and Ronnie King set up and maintained the race course. The only thing mentioned was the distance of the offshore buoys but hey, it was held in Texas. David Thomas came all the way from the British Virgin Islands to take pictures of the winners at the banquet. Just kidding. He said he took over 1200 photos. Jeni Hill supplied the pins, patches, name badges and all of the concession items. She was also at the Nationals and provided additional items and services. David Santistevan provided and supported the Nationals website. He also let us borrow his golf cart and daily delivered ice to those who needed it. Al Waters thank you for putting up with my questions, calls and emails. Al doesn’t have all the answers but knows where to send you. Last but not least, Al Hobbs. Thanks for the support and handling of a the few issues that did crop up that needed your assistance. Again, thanks to everyone that supported us and to those I may not have mentioned by name. This was not an easy task but it went off very well. Even at the after racing events and the awards banquet. I had mixed feelings when it was all over however I was glad to have been a part of the whole experience. Congrats to all of the winners and I hope to see everyone again at next year’s NAMBA Nationals in Utah! 2018 NAMBA Lone Star Nationals By Oscar Love Co-Contest Director NAMBA Lone Star Nationals I’ve finally had time to slow down and wanted to thank everyone that attended the 2018 NAMBA Lone Star Nationals! Despite the rain, we had some very good racing weather. It would not be possible to have a race this big without the support of all the sponsors and volunteers. I will miss some, but a few I would like to point out who made the Nationals what it was. John Borden did 90% of the race planning. He was on the phone and texting to get people to enter. I am not sure that I’ve ever sent as many text messages as I did this past year. The entrant count was low up until the last two months of the race. John kept calling to get people to enter. This, in my opinion was the reason for the turnout. Keeping up with the heat sheets and making sure there were no mistakes was a large task. It wasn’t perfect, but was about as close as you can get. As for the heat shuffling format, I received a few comments that they would like to try it in their districts. Thank you John! Tommy Wagner and Jerry Roberts were the ones responsible for getting the trailers in place Thursday. We were amazed at the number of people who showed up early but they handled it very well even with the rain and mud. Brandon Martin was our retrieve boat driver. He single- handedly worked the whole week. Even a day in the rain to make sure all of the boats were picked up. He was key in making sure there were no delays between heats. Ronnie King loaned us his personal boat to make it easier to do the retrieving. He also built the retrieving boat rack inside at last minute. Tommy Wagner and Jim Crane were the pit bosses. They along with Brandon kept the 57+ heats per day during the week going so we could get open water in the evenings. Jeri Wagner and family, and Reita Wahe worked all week helping check in people, selling raffle tickets and lunches, and handing out raffle prizes. At one point there was even a river running through our tents. Lesley, Tommy/Jeri's granddaughter did a great job of singing the national anthem on the weekends. PROPWASH 12 April 2019
