Later that morning I asked Michael if he wanted some help removing the ribbons and he looked at me like I was crazy. You guessed it. He still has those ribbons attached to his canopy to this day. You can view both videos of this undertaking on our District 19 Facebook page. And while you are there, please like our page. Our next two races took us to Legg Lake in Los Angeles, California with the first one being held by Outlaw Racing and the second race being our district benefit race held by H2O Gassers. I don’t have much to report about these two races. Regrettably I missed them. I really missed getting to see all the Legg Lake crew, but we will catch up soon. A big thank you to Outlaw Racing and the H20 Gassers! The next race on the schedule took us to sunny San Diego, California where Neil Boyle and the San Diego Argonauts with help from Mark Williamson, Peter Piraino and the rest of the SD Gassers put on one heck of a race. I made the trip without a boat and I am glad I did as someone had to keep an eye on Robert Holland from Colorado and Jim Osborne from Arizona. The combination of both clubs worked well setting up the course and making sure everyone had a blast. This race also had a few firsts. This was the first race where we offered all of the G-Limited classes. We also had some more first-time winners. The SD Gassers cleaned up with three first time winners in the G-Limited classes. Paul Curwen won G-Limited Crackerbox , Tom Hockenberry won G-Limited Mono and Peter Piraino won G-Limited Catamaran. All three were given a free bath at the end of the day. Roger Pane was the big winner of the weekend edging out Ken Boyle for the win in the Classic Thunderboat class earning the title of the 2018 San Diego Cup Winner! Pahrump was also the first race we offered Sportsman Sport Hydro with five boats entered. With the success of the Sportsman Mono class, we decided to offer this class as an exhibition class to see where it could go. I was surprised by the speeds they where achieving. With the new G-LTD rule in NAMBA, I can see they are going to be a class to watch. The highlight of weekend for me was the coolest racing prank I have ever been a part of. It took place on Saturday night and yes Jim and Tracy Osborne were involved. A handful of us racers got together after everyone left for the night and hung a hundred plus old national’s ribbons under the team Rev It Up canopy. The next morning as Mike Coleman pulled up (of course I was recording it) he exited his truck, took a double take at his canopy and there it was a BIG smile. We had succeeded! PROPWASH 20 October 2018 Michael Graves was so excited to win Sportsman’s Mono on Saturday, he couldn’t keep his eyes open when Tracy Osborne presented the trophies. Or maybe he was just told that he was going in. Hundreds of heat racing ribbons were hung from Mike Cole- man’s tent in the middle of the night. They appeared to be yellow and pink Paul Curwen shows off his winning G-Limited Crackerbox before his dive in to the saltwater pond in San Diego
