Before I knew it, I was like the rest of us toting around a dozen plus nitro boats in a trailer to our district races with my race partner Shannon Muth. But all that was about to change…. In 2008 nitro started to die off in our district and I had a choice. Look at my boats as they sit on the shelf or jump into the world of gas. I did what most of us did in our district. I jumped into the gas classes with both feet. I still have a tunnel. It just has a Zenoah resting back of it. And I have found a few new favorites in the Crackerbox, Catamaran and the Jersey Skiff classes. You can still find me racing multiple classes at our district races with the same trailer and same old racing partner Shannon Muth. One of the things I really look forward to this year is the NAMBA Nationals being held in Dallas, Texas. I know the guys and gals in that district are going to put on a top-notch race, however I am excited to meet you, the members from all over the country. And who knows! I might even get lucky and win a heat or two. Last Minute News and Reminders Since space allows for some filler material, here you go. 1. Once you have created an account or a profile in the NAMBA Membership Portal, you are there for life. You do not need to create a new membership if you come back years later. 2. If Person A has paid for Site Insurance in 2017 and Person B in the same club decides to pay for it in 2018, you do not need to apply for a new site insurance certificate. Just notify the NAMBA office and it will be pointed to you in your Membership Portal. 3. You should have already received your secure e-mail from the Membership Portal to vote on the four proposals. Please participate in the voting process. All NAMBA members (even the juniors) are allowed to vote. However, you must be a current NAMBA member or your vote will not count. The ballot form on page 30 is available for all members however it recommended for those 21 members (if they have renewed this year) who do not have Internet access, a computer, no e-mail address or a cell phone to access their Membership Portal. 4. In the last election voting for NAMBA President, Vice President, and odd numbered districts District Directors provided amazing participation results through the use of the Membership Portal. In years past, the average was 10 to 12 percent of the membership voted for NAMBA President and Vice President. The following reflects results from the most recent election. Not only is this due in part to the Membership Portal which provided resumes and videos of the candidates, but the work of all of the District Directors in reaching out to their membership to get out and vote.
