AYear of Racing District 20 By Karl Loveless District 20 Director One thing is for sure, District 20 has not lost that boating feeling! I will do my best to recap some of the exciting things that happened in our district over the course of the 2017 season. For those of you that don’t know, District 20 includes three states. Colorado, Northern Utah and Wyoming. This structure provides us with unique race sites and similar elevations to work with which keeps it very competitive. We were lucky enough to pick up a new race site during the 2017 season located in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Sloan Lake is absolutely beautiful and has the potential for large events in the future. We could not have picked up this location without the hard work and long hours put in by Chris Bopp, David Santistevan, Joe Scarpino and Joe Weilnau. Thank you guys! The race 2017 season brought an exciting series called The Rocky Mountain Shoot Out Series. The concept was a three race series that would run along side our normal district racing. The most popular classes in FE, Nitro and Gas were chosen. We required attendance at each of the three races (Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming) to qualify. This provided a separate opportunity to win a championship. We had 13 drivers participating and all 7 classes came down to the final race and in most cases the final heats of the year. The series truly produced some of the best Nitro Update By Mark Grim NAMBA Nitro Chairman I would like to thank NAMBA President Alan Hobbs for appointing me to the position of NAMBA Nitro Chairman. Contrary to what some people might believe, Nitro is still alive and kicking! District 3 held their 4th Annual Winter Nitro Championships in Florida. Congratulations to all of the winners! I wanted to also mention that there were 127 Nitro boats entered at the 2017 NAMBA Nationals in Las Vegas, Nevada. I hope to see more Nitro boats entered at this years NAMBA Nationals in Dallas, Texas. So dust off those Nitro boats, charge those batteries and get them ready to race. SEE YOU AT THE RACES!
