own designed sail, attach to a wooden skewer, let the fan blow and watch the racing commence. Then the Maker in kids kicked in. Two sails, three sails, curved sails. The best sail of the bunch was a mom’s sail. It was “For Sale”. Kids took their sails home with them (San Diego Argonauts logo and web site stamped on each sail) and they were given an “Oh Boy Oberto” partici- pation sticker. I will let you divide 1060 sails by 6 and you can come up with how many heat races were run. The Bottle Boat Regatta definitely was a hit with the crowd. And I got to call a few heat races myself. No penalties and no lane infractions. Nationals Advertising - Vegas Style By Al Waters NAMBA Executive Secretary To bring awareness to the public about the NAMBA Nationals in Las Vegas, Nevada last year, a very popular method of advertising was used. A rolling truck billboard. NAMBA I.T. Chairman David Santistevan came up with the concept and District 7 (Mr. PodCast) model boater Jay Stone designed all of the graphics complete with a QR code. A truck with a rolling billboard drove up and down the Las Vegas strip for eight hours every day advertising the NAMBA Nationals. The following are pictures of the graphics used and the truck while driving down the Vegas Strip. Check out the boats used and if it is your boat (proof of NAMBA number ownership required), contact David and he will send you the banner for your personal use.
