There is now a check box and
signature requirement that you have read
the NAMBA rulebook and its safety
sections. You will now be required to
use this form to have your future
NAMBA membership processed.
For those of you who use online
membership, it will reflect the same
changes. If a prior years form is used, it
will considerably delay the processing of
your membership.
We have discovered that there are
two types of people who know the
NAMBA rulebook inside and out. The
NAMBA Board of Directors and anyone
who has had a racing penalty called on
them. We want to be sure that you
acknowledge the reading of the NAMBA
rulebook and its safety sections. We
want to be sure that everyone
understands the importance. It is our
insurance policy.
We are currently working on being
able to process Site Insurance, Club
Registrations, and Race Sanctions on the
NAMBA web site. Until we are 100%
sure that we are ready to go, please feel
free to go to PayPal and transfer funds to
the name namba@cox.net. Many
members have filled out the explanation
PayPal box and faxed or e-mailed the
appropriate forms with no problem.
Keep those cards, letters, Gunsmoke
videos, saltwater taffy, and maple sugar
candy coming. Just kidding but I wanted
to thank a few people and they know
who they are.

To obtain site insurance, you must be
a NAMBA registered club with a
minimum of five NAMBA members in
good standing. Now there is a caveat to
this. When a club applies in December
2014 for 2015 site insurance, technically
the club is registered and the five
members are in good standing.
However, if the club has not
registered and five NAMBA members
have not renewed by January 1, 2015, no
site insurance certificate will be issued.
So, for those of you out there who
handle the site insurance duties in your
club, make sure that you know who your
five 2015 NAMBA members are when
applying. To help offset the costs passed
on to us, the cost for site insurance will
now be $50.00
Moving on to NAMBA
memberships. NAMBA has not
increased its membership dues in more
than twenty years. Since that period of
time, the world has experienced double
digit insurance rate increases and cost of
living increases. We are no exception to
this. Even with the excellent track record
that we have had, our insurance rates
have gone up as well as operating costs.
For a number of years we have used
the NAMBA treasury to offset those
increases but now we have come to a
period of time that we can no longer
continual to use those reserves.
Effective with the 2015 NAMBA
membership, an adult membership will
be $50.00, second adult at the same
address $40.00, and a junior will remain
the same at $25.00. Single event will
change to $15.00.
The Secretary Speaks
By Al Waters
NAMBA Executive Secretary
The proposal to extend the rudder for
1/10 Scale Unlimited FE Hydroplanes
that the membership voted on in April
has passed. The proposal read as
follows.
Boats shall use a single rudder at
any mounting location on the transom.
The center of the rudder post shall not
be located more than 1.75 inches behind
the transom.
The results were sixty members
voted with fifty one voting for its
passing and nine against. If you have not
done so already, please download the
update from the NAMBA web site. You
will receive a rulebook hard copy update
with the April 2015
Propwash
.
As mentioned by NAMBA President
Robert Holland in the President’s
Message, there is a District Director
election currently going on in District
20. Only NAMBA members in District
20 may vote for a candidate. Rather than
spend hundreds of dollars using the
Propwash for their voting ballot, a ballot
has already been mailed to each
household. All NAMBA members in
District 20 are allowed to vote.
Good luck to the candidates. It’s
good to see the enthusiasm and
involvement by two gentlemen who
want to make a difference.
Many questions continue to come up
about membership insurance and site
insurance. Both from new and seasoned
veterans. Lets talk site insurance first
and obtaining it.
IMPORTANT … IMPORTANT … IMPORTANT
Editors Note: The following came across our desks as the Propwash was sitting at the printers office.
Fortunately, we were able to get the following important information to you.
We recently received a letter from our insurance underwriter that outlines sections of our insurance coverage.
Your coverage is in force when we you participating in model boating activities at
NAMBA insured sites.
Not blanket coverage where ever an individual decides to run their boat.
We will make available during the
year a list of those locations to NAMBA members as NAMBA registered clubs apply for site insurance for those
sites.
