as everyone was eager to help and pit
for one another. And, this was not just
with us but with every one there in
attendance.
It’s also a chance to meet that person
you made a deal with or chatted with
online. One of those occurrences for me
was meeting Chris Davis and his
cheerful wife Kay. What a great boating
couple. Kay even helped pit for Chris.
And of course Jim Wilson. I don't know
of anyone who doesn't benefit from
Jim's knowledge and wisdom at some
point. What a lot of fun! The weather
was fantastic and the water conditions
were great.
A few of us stayed at the host
Medallion Hotel and the rest camped out
at a campground a few miles away. We
had barbeques and visitors most every
night sharing stories and experiences.
Some of the guys visited the Hydroplane
and Race Boat Museum in Seattle and
then went with the Atlas team for the
first running of the "Blueblaster"
originally piloted by Bill Muncey with
Chip Hanauer in attendance. Chip even
stopped by the race site on Saturday to
watch the races with long time model
boater Harry Gatjens.
District 8 did a masterful job
organizing the nightly events. And when
the banquet came around there were
some really nice door prizes and
surprising awards as well as the race
trophies.
I am looking forward to next year at
Lake Minden in California and have
already booked a cottage at the resort
lake site. I can see how attending the
NAMBA Nationals is very addicting
and not to be missed. See you all there
