The final day came and went and I
couldn't have asked for a better close to
the entire NAMBA Nationals then our
awards banquet.
We had a wonderful venue in the
Maverik Center, home of the Utah
Grizzlies hockey team. There was great
food, cold drinks and so many cool
awards to give out. A big thank you
thank you to David Santistevan. As
Robert Holland and I handed out the
trophies it was great to see how happy
the racers were and how they really
seemed to enjoy there time in Utah. It
was great to see some of the first time
racers winning and many locals
finishing on the podium in several
classes.
Mike Poulson was the first person in
Northern Utah and from the Decker
Dunkers to win a class championship
(Sport 40) which made all of us locals
very proud.
I have to admit that I was bursting at
the seams about a big secret I had been
holding for months. I was asked many
months back to write a letter about
someone who has meant so much to this
hobby. I personally hoped that this
person would be inducted in to the
NAMBA Hall of Fame. Our District
Director and current President of
NAMBA, Robert Holland was inducted
the evening of the awards banquet in to
the Hall of Fame which was very special
for those of us that know him and know
how much he loves this hobby. Congrats
again Robert for this awesome
achievement. You deserve it.
In closing, I want to again personally
thank each person, company and
sponsor that donated, supported, and or
helped the little club from Utah pull off
a NAMBA Nationals. I can only hope
that those who attended will come back
to Utah again some day, and those that
could not make the race will consider
coming to Utah when we host another
BIG race very soon.
To all the small clubs out there think
BIG! I know I will cherish all the many
memories this Nationals created and
friendships made and I am already
looking forward to next years NAMBA
Nationals in District Nine.
A NAMBA Nationals tradition. The Welcome Party where everyone had plenty to eat,
drink, and casually sit down and talk with every one.
In an elimination round at the Paddleboat races, it appears that Nationals Co - Contest
Director Karl Loveless (green paddleboat) may not be holding his lane
