When I first started back in RC
boating a few years back it was very
hard to track people down and find out
who was selling what and where to buy
what I needed. We all know the local
hobby shop does not have it. Then
luckily I came across Intlwaters..Heaven
Sent I tell you! I was on information
overload, it was euphoric. My wife
Natalie thought I had a mistress. I
couldn’t wait for the next post.
I could get information and tips from
some of the best racers in the country.
They would constantly be posting
information and pictures, I could buy all
the coolest stuff and get great links to all
the boating stuff I could ever need. I
even bought something from Australia,
not because I needed it but because I
could. This was nitro only. Awsome.
I then got a gas boat and motor as raffle
prizes from the World Cup in Las Vegas
that we attended just for fun. I didn’t
even have a gas boat. Soon after I found
Jim’s RC Boat Dock for the gas
enthusiast. I was freaking out, now I had
two forums. The wife and kids were
really starting to miss me. Don’t get me
started on my electric stuff and those
forums. My youngest son would even
ask to get on these forums just so he
could look at the boats. He is six years
old.
Then things slowly started to change.
I was brave enough to post my opinions,
thoughts and set ups. At first on one paid
much attention to what I posted but
slowly I would get a response to it,
which I thought was cool but then I
needed to defend my post.

Hello again my fellow NAMBA
boaters. I hope your 2012 boating
season has been fun. I wanted to write a
follow up article about our newly
formed club that began back in 2010. In
the original article I talked about how a
handful of boaters in Utah came
together to form a club, and how
members from District 20 helped us put
on a race for the first time in Northern
Utah. Well, since then we have
exploded in boat counts and are on the
brink of reaching our number one goal
that was set from day one.
A major change from 2010 was the approval from NAMBA to have Northern Utah
moved from District 9 to District 20. This move was to help promote our growth and
take our racing from a club level to a district level. We have since hosted several
District 20 races and formed wonderful friendships along the way. Our club
membership and boat counts have increased each year and racing has been awsome to
say the least.
During our 2012 District 20 hosted race over Memorial weekend, we had a few
special guests join us. Lenny and Leann Blake came from Arizona and Alan Hobbs
came from Montana. At that time we expressed our interest in hosted the big one: the
NAMBA Nationals for Nitro and Gas. With their encouragement and the experience
of District 20 members who hosted the Nationals in 2008, we decided go for the gold.
With great excitement, I am pleased to report that we are the host club helping to put
on the 2013 NAMBA Nationals. This will truly be our small club’s dream coming
true. I know I speak for all the Decker Dunker’s in saying we are very honored that
our location was chosen and we will be working very hard to make sure this event will
continue its traditions while creating new memories to last a lifetime.
I want to personally thank NAMBA President Al Waters, NAMBA Vice President
and District 20 Director Robert Holland, NAMBA Executive Secretary
