1980, 1981, & 1988. I know they’re out there, someone has a
copy. Thank you for taking the time to look and we will all
appreciate your effort.
Now, as for the pins, I still need the following: 1972, 1973,
1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1983, and 1984.
I don’t know for sure if these NAMBA Nationals actually had
pins, but I can only hope.
Last but not least, here’s the pitch for our infamous patches.
There may come a time in the future, when our one and only
banner gets misplaced again. Everyone is very cognizant of the
banner; however, somewhere – someday – somehow, it can get
lost or destroyed. So, I’ve been trying to collect a second set of
patches in case this ever happens. Here are the missing years: 1973
(Seattle, WA), 1976 (Baltimore, MD), 1980 (Tacoma, WA), 1984
(Newark, NJ), 1985 (Reno, NV), 1987 (San Diego, CA), 1997
(Manteca, CA) and 2002 (Springfield, OR). Hey Manteca and
Springfield – that was only a few years ago – start diggin!
For those that would like to donate their patch, pin or program
to the NAMBA National Historical Collection, please send to:

Thank you in advance for your help.

Race Entry Program
By Todd Zeller
Palm Beach RC Power Boaters
A huge improvement has been made for model boat racers
and CD’s. Bill Britton’s rcracingevents.com online race entry
and scoring system has taken a load off of the CD’s back,
while making it simpler and easier for racers to enter a race.
After CDing races for over 20 years, I can safely say that this
is the easiest race I’ve ever put together. The data entry
portion of assembling a race has historically been the most
time consuming part of building a race. Bill’s system has all
but removed the data entry burden off the CD or whoever is
putting the race together.
The building of heats takes all of about 10 minutes, which
includes sorting out frequency conflicts. Adding late entries
is a breeze. Scoring is a snap, with his scoring application
that you will need to download. If you have internet access at
the pond with an air card or cellphone, uploading your scores
after each heat only takes a couple mouse clicks. There are
even numerous video tutorials in his support forum on the
site, to help explain the process of building up a race from
scratch and scoring the event. You also get excellent tech
support from Bill himself, as he keeps a watchful eye over
races being built or edited.
There are no additional fees if mail-in entries only are
used. The only additional costs incurred are a minimal fee
from PayPal (optional), which averaged out to less than
$0.75 per racer for our race. Many people are not aware that
a PayPal account is not required for a racer to pay with a
credit card.
I highly recommend to any club that they try out
rcracingevents.com, as you won’t believe how simple and
easy it is. Our club won’t be going back to any of the old
methods of doing this ever again!
NAMBA Nationals History
By Dave Rychalsky
NAMBA Historian
Ah yes, for your reading pleasure, I give you my 10
th
article on our search for the NAMBA Nationals pins,
programs, and patches! There was a major donor of NAMBA
memorabilia a few weeks ago that sent over quite a bit of
material from decades ago. Steve Muck, one of the elite
model boat designers and builders in history has sent Al
Waters a variety of programs, articles, buttons, and patches.
Al is currently going through the cache to determine where
the pieces came from. Thanks Steve – we all appreciate your
generosity. Now, as for the rest of you, I do have an angle for
the programs. If anyone has a program from the list below,
and you are thinking of sending it to me, I can scan it and put
it up on the NAMBA website, AND return your program
back to you! So, it’s a win-win for everyone. We all get to
see the program, and your personal collection remains intact.
Check your NAMBA drawer and see if you have a program
from the following years: 1972, 1974, 1976, 1977, 1979,
