87 a better driver.” For the next serveral years Doug focused on driving his Pinkert Rigger during which time his Father taught him the most important lesson. He said,“To finish all of my races”. Outside of racing and after high school Doug eventually picked up a fast lawn AMPIONOF MPIONS cutting job with his buddy and that turned into cutting lawns for himself. That spawned his own business and after 30 years he’s still at it. In RC Boating Doug says he has developed several dear friends along the way with so many to name. He mentioned Mark and Chris Grim, Brian Buass, Al Hobbs, Steve Ball, William Shackleford, Chris Wittrig, Brad Maglinger, Dave Bidney and his old District 1 buddies. But the one buddy he calls his oldest is Chris Constanza. Doug says his best accomplishment that comes to mind is being inducted into the NAMBA Hall of Fame at the age of 40 to be among a small group that had been inducted that young.”His best memory with his family, however, is a snowmobiling outing with his 5 daughers. He went on to say,“The happiest moment of my life besides the birth of my children was after my Dad had lost his vision he got to hear the announcer interview me in front of the crowd after my first feature win racing a 358 dirt modified race car. My Dad never missed a race. In closing Doug offers a small word of advice for the next generation of RC Boaters. He says,“People will always remember your personality over how many racers you’ve won. Just enjoy the experience and make great memories.”
